I’m Beth James, an abstract artist based in Longview, Texas, creating bold, expressive work inspired by color, movement, texture, and the freedom to make something unexpected.
Art found me later in life, and once it did, I was all in. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a true passion and a way for me to communicate through color, shape, and energy. My work is intuitive and constantly evolving—sometimes vibrant and playful, sometimes layered and moody, but always created with a sense of movement and individuality.
I love experimenting with acrylics, metallics, texture, resin, alcohol inks, and unconventional surfaces. My work ranges from large-scale abstract canvases to my signature FREEFORMS™—sculptural, organically shaped pieces designed to bring art beyond the traditional square or rectangle.
I’m also deeply rooted in my East Texas community. My husband, Randy, and I own Hardin Ace Hardware in Longview, a locally owned family business that has given us the opportunity to build relationships and serve our community for many years.
Beth James Art is about creating pieces that feel alive in a space—art that draws you in, starts a conversation, and makes a room feel a little less ordinary.
Every piece is created with curiosity, instinct, and a willingness to get messy.
Welcome to my world of color.
I'm proud that my work has traveled beyond Longview, too. I've been invited to exhibit at galleries in Dallas and to take part in art walks in different cities. And because I love sharing my art, I often donate pieces to local events for their silent auctions — being involved in this community means a lot to me, and it's one more way to put a little color into it.
A few of my favorite paintings are also available on shirts, mugs, pillows and more in my Redbubble shop — come take a look!
